Mietta's Review
This restaurant has strengthened under the guidance of chef Darren Perryman. Serving Modern Australian cuisine which features fine domestic produce, this is a good place for dinner. The view of Green Square is panoramic and the space is stark and modern. The wine list is adequate, but has a fair range by the glass.

Canberra Times Eat Out, Bryan Martin, 3-10-07 "First Floor restaurant in Kingston, which advertises that it caters for vegetarians. They have five dishes with the big -V-, some as an entree or main, a pretty good offering for the size of menu. We chose four dishes, all entreesize. The first was a sextet of little mushroom caps, ovenroasted with pesto and chilli jam ($16.90). l loved these little flavour bombs, served with a drizzle of pesto - I could have gone a dozen. ... All up a pleasant experience, quite safe food delivered by professionals within and out of the kitchen."

Canberra Times Karen Downing, 21-02-07 "DARREN PERRYMAN is perhaps the closest thing Canberra has to a celebrity chef. His association with Canberra establishments Boathouse by the Lake and Republic, appearances on Radio 2CN's Food Show and the Triple J breakfast show, mentions in Virgin's in-flight magazine and Cleo, and his eponymous range of take-home products, all mark him as a mover and shaker in the food industry. Here at the First Floor, with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking Green Square in Kingston, and its architecturally designed contemporary interior, Perryman's formula is upmarket bistro with seasonal menus, the freshest of ingredients and the flexibility to meet dietary intolerances."

SMH GFG 2004,Score 13/20,'The decor is warehouse modern, with exposed brick and beams, and a sleek bar...flexible menu offers comforting, assured bistro dishes in both entree and main sizes.'
