Over 1,000 recipes from Mietta's collection that draws on the 1950s recipes her (Scottish) grandmother used to teach her to cook, those she collected for use in the family. As well there are dishes that were used in the restaurant from 1974 to 1996 and those Tony Knox uses today. In other words it contains everything from straight Australian-English recipes of our past to the diverse cultural flavours of today.
Wonderful and achievable Italian recipes from Italians living in Australia using Australian produce. The recipes come from Mietta's grandparents' restaurant peers, from Patrizia Simone (Simone's of Bright) and from Silvana Palmira. It was Silvana who worked through the dishes with Mietta using her wealth of experience as a chef in her Melbourne restaurants over the last thirty years.
Recipes from Australian chefs. Many of these recipes come from Great Australian Chefs and her earlier publication, Mietta & Friends. The chefs represented are the pick of Australia's chefs restaurateurs and food educators. It would be hard to find a better place to learn what is happening at the forefront of today's Australian food.
