Mietta's Eating and Drinking in Australia 2001
Mietta O'Donnell brings her extensive experience as a restaurateur and her impeccable judgement to the second edition of Mietta's Eating & Drinking in Australia 2001.
More than just a restaurant guide, this stylish publication with its intelligent reviews, artful photography, and lively insightful essays captures the essence of the diverse Australian epicurean experience.
The book assesses over 3,800 restaurants, cafes and bars across Australia, with each state divided into its capital city and beyond. Listings include features, hours of opening, smoking policy, private rooms, child-friendly, cuisine and most popular dishes. Divided into different price categories, one can look up everything from budget-based eating and drinking spots, to fine dining restaurants, as well as the hottest cafes and wine bars in town.
Indexed by cuisine, price, locality and alphabetically, tracking down the right restaurant or bar has never been easier. Also included are pages of quick find lists outlining, for example, the best breakfasts, best coffee, best late night spots and best al fresco dining.
The Guide has assessed all these establishments and rated them for food and ambience. Restaurants in any price category can receive up to three marks for food and three for service and ambience - a total of six. In all Australia three establishments received the top score and 19 got five. About a third of received an award of some kind.
Illustrated throughout with atmospheric photographs by Tony Knox that capture the spirit of our eating culture, Mietta's Eating & Drinking in Australia 2001 provides a vital perpective on the range and diversity of Australia's dining experience. Not only for locals, the Guide will also prove to be the preferred reference book for national and international travellers and tourists.
