Scusa Mi Ristorante & Bar

No apologies needed for the food here. A well balanced and not unrealistically vast Italian menu with an interesting range of dishes, including some in the currently trendy Sardinian style. Service is swift as is needed at Southbank, turning over the tables at a constant pace on a fine day or hot night. The kitchen here can really pump it out, with more than 25 dockets to deal with at any one time. They do it cleanly and well. But the music is too loud and the hard floor and bare walls richochet happy conversations and the buzz of the bar turns into a cacophany which makes conversation a shouting match. Something of a pity really because Simon Humble's food can stand proudly alone without the noisy atmosphere and a river view. Prices are in line with the quality of the food but the wine list pushes the limits. In the last year, Humble has assumed the role of 'risotto king' of Melbourne. Even the Italian President and some of Melbourne's most demanding eaters champion his risotti.
