Retreat Hotel

A very sweet almost original inner suburban Victorian pub with leadlight windows, attractive tiles, and an imposing brass bar surround supported by brass elephants. The Retreat has both bar and restaurant menus and generally sees business groups during the day, with a more mature patronage at night. A room called The Snug, is precisely that - reminiscent of my favorite dingy English pubs - and the main dining room is very traditional English/Australian pub, complete with open fireplace and leadlights.

The pub serenades its loyal local following with a jazz quartet which plays on Sundays from 5-8.30pm.
