The game plan at Luxe
Within days of opening Luxe became a star on the St Kilda scene, a discreet beacon down a forgotten end of Inkerman Street. The fine shuttered front and the clever design within provides just the right look for its market. No-nonsense food lovers who want to eat very good food in casual surrounds at a reasonable price. And to able to drink a fine glass of wine from a well chosen and extensive list. It is owned by the est est est team and the style and fine products of its parent restaurant are in evidence here. But the place is very different (as are the prices) too noisy and too sharp for some, heaven for others. Initially the policy was no bookings here which was fine for locals who wanted to eat early and leave. Those coming across town found it difficult and a bit intimidating to be eating with a bar full of people waiting for a table 'glaring at you'. That's gone now, it's a more relaxed scene, less pressure of numbers but still very busy.
