Le Petit Bourgeois
Mietta's Eating & Drinking in Melbourne 2000

Le Petit Bourgeois is an appropriate name for this small homely restaurant. It's far from trendy and doesn't try to be. The cosy atmosphere suits its customers very well who are comfortable with a more conventional dining style. The menu is small and concise with not a lot of choice. It includes some French classics which are prepared freshly and well. Portions are correct and there is the added bonus of a lemon scented buttermilk sorbet served between entree and main course which is a lovely touch. Wendy out front and her husband John in the kitchen have been running Le Petit Bourgeois for some years (it was previously in another location) and have developed a loyal following. It's the attetnion to detail, the flowers in the toilets, the little table and chair at the end of the passage for smokers which overlooks a lovely garden. Thoughtful and cared for, a warm and welcoming place where you are well looked after.
