Apple Kuchen
Preamble
Ingredients
4 oz Butter Butter Butter
1 3/4 cup Sugar Sugar Sugar

1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence Vanilla Vanilla
3 cups Plain Flour Cornflour Cornflour
2 teaspoons Baking Powder Baking Powder Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt Salt Salt
1 cup Milk Milk Milk
2 teaspoons Cinnamon Cinnamon Cinnamon
3 medium Apples peeled and sliced Apple Apple

MethodCream butter and sugar (one and a half cups) together in a basin. Add eggs gradually, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla essence. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; fold in alternately with the milk. Pour into a greased 13 inch x 10 inch cake tin. Combine remaining quarter cup of sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle over batter. Arrange apple slices in rows on top. Bake in a moderate oven (350F, 180C) for 40 minutes or until cooked (cooking time will depend on the variety of apples used).
