Chocolate Cake
Ingredients3 tablespoons Butter 1 cup Sugar 1 3/4 cups Flour 1 Egg 1/2 cup Milk 1/4 cup hot Water 1 large teaspoon Cream Of Tartar 1 small teaspoon Bicarbonate Of Soda 1 1/2 dessertspoons Cocoa |
MethodCream butter and sugar; add egg well beaten and mixed with milk. Then add sifted flour, cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda, and lastly hot water. Bake in two sandwich tins. Join the two cakes together with a filling of whipped cream or one made by boiling for five minues one cup of water, one cup of sugar, and one dessertspoon of gelatine. Let it cool; add essence of lemon and beat until white and thick. Ice the cake with chocolate icing, and sprinkle with nuts. |
