Empanadas De Carne
Ingredients
2 lb blade bone Steak Beef Beef
4 oz chopped Onion Spring Onion Spring Onion
1 tablespoon chopped Garlic Garlic Garlic
1/8 teaspoon ground Cloves Cloves Cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground Cinnamon Cinnamon Cinnamon
2 Apples Apple Apple
3 Tomatoes Tomato Tomato
3 Chillies washed and seeded Chilli Chilli
10 pimento-stuffed Olives Olive Olive
3 oz seedless Raisins Raisin Raisin
3 oz Almonds Almond Meal Almond Meal
Dough Dough Dough
9 oz sifted Flour Cornflour Cornflour
4 teaspoons Baking Powder Baking Powder Baking Powder
1 oz Lard Lard Lard
1 oz Butter Butter Butter
2 fluid oz Water Water Water

MethodMince the beef and blend with the other ingredients.
Rub lard and butter into the sifted flour and baking powder until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Mix to a stiff dough with the water.
Divide into 4 - roll each into thin squares.
Divide meat mixture into eack. Fold dough over and pinch edges securely. Place on buttered baking tray. Brush with egg yolk. Bake for 20 minutes in oven 375 degrees.
