Mietta's Review
Umberto Tinelli, from Campo Di Fiori has taken the business clientele of West Perth by storm. His latest is a single storey building completely clad in white marble. It oozes money from the bevelled glass in the front door, via the inlaid blonde wood tables with their lush napkins to the clever sliding windows. But, just when you thought no expense had been spared the basic stainless cutlery catches one's eye. As well as being the hottest restaurant in town it also has a cold display for gourmet take-away antipasti, foccacia and patisserie. Service is controlled by ex-Campo waiters and the whole operations is very smooth - Perth power at its best.

Other published opinions

Paul Eats Perth 06 "Now, everyone gets it wrong sometimes, and the Gran Caffe has a good reputation, but the way you react and handle situations is key to a successful restaurant. Resting on laurels, heated arguments and eyerolling do no one any favours."

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide "Umberto Tinelli has established a reputation for creating successful restaurants with reliably good modern Italian food, excellent service and a touch of glamour. He has done just that with the custom-built II Principe"

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004,'This is a stylish-looking restaurant...excellent attentive service. The food is good upmarket Italian, with quite a variety of contemporary and traditional dishes...If you like spectacular dessert, you'll be rewarded here.'

The Western Australian, U!, dining out, David Hummerston, April 2002, Score 15.5/20. "Tinelli's triumph."

The Sunday Times, Eating Out, Gail Williams, Feb. 2002, "New Restaurant by Umberto tinelli - chic bistrot opening out onto the street."
