Mietta's Review
A fabulous situation. Perched on the water's edge at the St Kilda Marina The Great Provider's generous windows look out onto a busy nautical scene - boats bobbing at anchor, others stacked high in racks, seagulls, paint stained workers and even occasional glimpses of the water. Inside all is cool modern cafe where (standard) fashionable food is efficiently served by attentive, pleasant staff. The setting is superb.

Other published opinions

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "Located in the St Kilda Marina, this casually funky diner offers million-dollar views at wallet-friendly prices, attracting a youngish designer-clad crowd. With acres of polished concrete, recycled timber and sharp lines (plus a covered balcony - perfect for keeping an eye on the yacht), it looks all that and a bit."

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 LIGHT-FILLED and luxurious, this is a great spot to fake affluence, perving on boats you wish you owned. It's also a great place to break from the weekend roller-blading regimen""

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "Catch the St Kilda Marina views from the timber deck of this stylised stone-clad diner and kid yourself you're on holiday."

AGFG 2004, score 13/20, excellent wine list and breakfasts, excellent bar

The Age, Agenda, 7/3/04, Dani Valent,'With chic lines and a clubby feel, this restaurant looks the goods. It isn't.The chairs are uncomfortable, the menu is annoying (bread:1st serve no charge there afterwards per portion (2 slices) 50 cents) and the food is workmanlike.'

The Age, Sunday Life, 11/1/04, John Lethlean,'Book a table on the veranda here and pretend one of the Berties (that's a Bertram motor yacht, silly) moored out the front is yours. The gazebo area is a winner for a cold beer and a whiff of salt air.'

VE+T, March April 2003,'Watch the yachts sail past from breakfast until dinner.' Bright and breezy, TGP capitalises on its excellent location by offering light, imaginative and appropriate modern food.

14/20 John Lethlean, Age Epicure, 19/2/02. Bright and breezy, TGP capitalises on its excellent location by offering light, imaginative and appropriate modern food.
