Mietta's Review
Greasy Joe's is as synonymous with St Kilda as Luna Park, and you'd almost need a mouth that big to eat the famous Burger with the lot here. All day breakfasters, locals, backpackers, and tourists, converge and either sit inside at a booth, or take a table in the fenced off footpath area. The specialty of the house is anything they can deep fry. It is an ideal spot to eat through a hang over.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Greasy Joe's emulates the all-American diner, from the gargantuan portions to the audacious attitude"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "With portions as big as Texas, going hungry isn't an option at Greasy Joe's, an all-American joint from its diner-style booths to its sweet and peppery barbecue pork spareribs."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 More convincingly authentic than many diners on American soil, Greasy Joe's offers roomy booths, a welcoming fire in winter and beer on tap. In other words, it's comfort-zone central.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "Whether it's a morning-after fry-up on the sunny terrace or an after-dark chicken parma, this is simple food done well."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004,Excellent breakfasts,Somewhere we can highly recommend,'you don't get more St Kilda than Greasy Joe's.No matter the hour, you can big it up with the vast menu.'

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'The success of this St Kilda stalwart relies partly on the people watching and partly on its location, but overwhelmingly it's the burgers that keep us coming back.Go classic with the Manhatten,or try the tofu,Cajun or tandoori chicken.'

Herald Sun, City Style, 11/11/03, Michele Curtis,'It's partly the people-watching and it's partly the ambience of St Kilda's busiest strip, but mostly and always overwhemingly it's the burgers.'
