Age Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 12.5/20 "Having moved into the prime riverfront spot previously occupied by the popular Mecca, Kouzina is hoping to do for Greek food what Mecca did for Middle Eastern. Melbourne latest upscale Greek restaurant puts a contemporary and occasionally innovative spin on classic dishes"

The Age John Lethlean, 3-9-2007 Score: 12.5/20 "So Kouzina, despite some really appalling Greek adult pop music, is not a place for hearty, traditional peasant foods at peasant prices. While you can certainly get dips and spanakopita and moussaka, most of the food has considerably greater pretensions, coming out of the kitchen styled up with smears and spots and sprinkles on the plates, and sometimes some rather smart crockery. A bit the French Laundry goes Hellenic. Naturally, the prices are adjusted accordingly. ... The main courses sum up the place: some innovation, some tradition. The food's not faulty; it just lacks impressive flavours and textures except, of course, for those desserts."

Herald Sun Dining Out, Stephen Downes, 22-05-07 Score: 12/20 "Kouzina's dishes were too big, too busy and lacked vitality. They were interesting and original, but I'd relinquish complexity for more fresh simplicity. My score would have been a 12, but for a two-point bread penalty. The wine list is representative, fairly long and medium-priced. Six table whites, a rose and seven reds come by the glass."
