Mietta's Review
This is Mick (Melbourne Oyster Bar) Kadamani's latest - 2 stories on the bay at Sandringham. Ground level is a cafe bar, above is the restaurant. The restaurant offers fine views and well-cooked fish dishes as one would expect from the owner's provenance. This a professional operation with proper service, a good wine list and competitve prices.

Other published opinions

Age Epicure Restaurants, John Lethlean, 22-8-06 Score: 10/20 "It's a pleasing enough sort of room - large with lots of timber (floors, wine shelving, ceiling batons), generous sprays of flowers, big bottles of Brown Brothers in display boxes and a curious blend of art on the walls, both realistic and abstract. Home on the Range - a sort of New Orleans jazz version - plays on the music system. Unusual choice. There are several couples tackling platters and a young family celebrating a birthday; it seems such an odd, expensive, lifeless place to take children under seven."

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "Finz is the latest venture from seafood king Michael Kadamani (he of the long-running Melbourne Oyster Bar in the OBO and Oyster in Mount Waverleyj. But this is the first with sea views to match the menu. Split over two levels, with a bistro downstairs and a stylish timber-lined dining room above, Finz overlooks the bay as well as the quaint old Sandringham bandstand."

Herald Sun Stephen Downes score 15/20, 30/11/04 "Apart from errant chardonnay in the cooking, Finz's standard, simple brasserie fare was well worth eating. While attentive, the service needs to free itself of yesterday's mannerism. The wine list is extensive, many bottles in the high $20s and low $30s. Six whites and five reds are available by glass."
