Mietta's Review
A buzzy, fun, family friendly cafe. The huge wood fired pizza oven lends heat and the feel of open kitchen cooking. Tables are hand painted and provide a backdrop for a good menu with vegetarian options and the wine list has some interesting inclusions at reasonable prices. Noisy when busy - which is often.

Other published opinions

The Sunday Age, 12.12.99, "Cafe Hobson, just around the corner from the bay in Sandringham, is decked out in beach theme with aqua walls sand-coloured trim and plenty of seaside paraphernalia. A big courtyard out the back has gas heating and canvas roofing. When the sun shines, the decking transforms into an alfresco dining area. A wood-fired oven churns out pizzas with usual toppings like Moroccan spiced chicken, roast mushrooms pine nuts and cheese. Standards like caesar salad, fish and chips and risotto are all nicely done and there are less usual combinations like udon noodles with roast duck, wild mushrooms ginger and grated beetroot, and spiced chicken fillets on hoikkien noodles with an avocado and paw paw salad. Entrees are $8-$12.50, and mains $14.50-$19. Hobson's is a family kind of place and kids are made to feel welcome.

The Herald Sun, 01.04.97, Siu Ling Hui "The food needs a little fine tuning. However, it is cheap and with such fabulous bonhomie, worth visiting if you are in the area. Score: two and a half stars"
