Mietta's Review
Built in 1900 this old pub that brings the best of two worlds together. An excellent and extensive wine list, beer on tap and better than average pub fare. Popular with locals and those willing to travel for the chance to sit by the fire and enjoy a relaxed night out. These days John Rubira's name is attached to the dining room and the accent is on seafood. Rubira has long been associated with quality fish restaurants.

Herald Sun Stephen Downes, 3-03-09 "Would I go back? ? Yes, I look forward to the post-Easter modernisation. John Rubira's restaurants serve superlative fish and seafood in simple, sometimes old-fashioned ways Now he's at the Victorian Swallows hotel. The pressed-metal ceiling glows, the tiles glint and the napkins snap with freshness. And the quality of the raw materials is exceptional. However, even Mr Rubira recognises the time warp some of his dishes are in A new chef starts after Easter. "
