Herald Sun Extra Food, Stephen Downes, 22-07-08 Score: **** "Sloaney Pony provides big balanced flavours, the product of - for the most part - adept cooking"

Herald Sun Bob Hart, 9-08-08 "Mercifully, few Sloane Rangers are down Port Melbourne way. But there are enough youthful celebrants to pack this place with its cool bar areas, clubby bistro, private dining room and more to come. And best of all, the food on offer here is rather better than much of the swill for which London's Sloanies are happy to be overcharged and later to regurgitate: it's smart, edgy and sensibly priced."

The Age Michael Harden, 7-10-2008 Score: 13/20 "The Sloaney Pony's dining room is separated from the main bar area by a pair of large iron gates festooned with fake vines, but is still very much part of the room. It is always nice to feel part of the action, but when the live acts kick in at 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights you may have to shout to make yourself heard above the warbling and repartee. It could be construed from this that the Sloaney Pony cares more for its fresh-faced drinkers than its diners, but the obvious level of effort put into the restaurant indicates it wants its patrons to chow down as much as get down."

Herald Sun Marinella Padula, 20-04-08 "Lived in grandeur with a French-Venetian flavour. The weathered exterior hides sparkling chandeliers, rich drapery and recycled chateau gates"

Herald Sun Stephen Downes, 12-02-08 Score: 17/20 "Sloaney Pony provides big balanced flavours, the product of - for the most part - adept cooking For the space you eat in, it's a bargain. Moreover, the wine list is extensive and well priced, several bottles in the low $30 range and some in the $20 range. Ten table whites, a rose and 10 reds are sold by glass."
