Mietta's Review
Most of this grand space is dedicated to suited drinkers who weave their way between the Federation columns of the Port Authority Building. Friday's the big night here. There is also a dining area where elaborate 'Italian' food is the order of the day. Service can be a bit distracted. The bar serves simpler, cheaper and more traditional 'pub' dishes.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 12/20 "The Trust - the historic, one-time Port Authority building, with its elegant and ornate dining room - has changed its food style from a highly worked, modern European menu (with the departure of chef Spencer Patrick) to one that's simpler and predominantly Italian"

The Age John Lethlean 20/2/06 score 11/20 "We're at the Trust, in the old shipping business district of the city, and it is such an impressive-looking place, just a magnificent room with its ornate plasterwork, towering ceilings and contemporary sculptures. A tribute to big-budget heritage restoration"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 13/20 "Proud classical columns dissect the gigantic dining area, while tall windows flood the room with light. But rather than pandering to the establishment vibe of the room, which once housed the Port Authority, The Trust's owners have chosen to counter it with modern sculptures, shabby-chic cushion-strewn banquettes and scarlet-upholstered chairs with distressed white frames."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "TO create a sense of luxury and warmth in the cavernous space that houses the Trust is an achievement in itself. Somehow the attentiveness of the service, the jewel-bright cushions and upholstery, and the chef's obvious love of slow-cooked richly flavoured dishes manage to soften the grandeur of what was once the Port Authority building."

AGFG 2004, score 12/20, excellent bar The Age, Sunday Life, 8/2/04, John Lethlean,'The Trust is an eleborate marble beer barn with a restaurant out the back. There is good Italian food in a restored period building.'

Herald Sun, City Style, 21/10/03, Stephen Downes, score 17/20,'is expensive, but delivers stylish and fastidiously cooked food. Its accompanying service and ambience are excellent.'
