Mietta's Review
The strong student feel puts Sahara almost its own category in the city. Located in "no persons land" opposite the Skateboard park on the old Queen Vic site that splits Swanston Street into the City end and the RMIT end, you feel like you've discovered something when you find a thriving lunch or dinner crowd up on the first floor (basic snack foods). This is a proper clever cheap set up, with skill and ingenuity used to create commercial facilities from combinations of available and affordable, mainly domestic, equipment. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual with retro found object furnishings amid a mixture of lounge room and kitchen table setups so customers can make themselves feel at home. It's become so popular that Friday nights are members only. Those and some other nights are party scenes, the seats get taken out and the DJ's play dance music.
