If anyone doubts the statistics about the size of Melbourne's Greek population they need to spend some time sitting outside Medallion Cakes on Lonsdale St. You'll hear little else other than Greek spoken either by the cafe sitters or by the traffic through the doors. Eat cakes, galaktobouriko, on the street or in the cool interior and sit on the grey banquettes at the sharp black tables. At the back there is often a video screening Greek music clips.
