Mietta's Review In the dimly-lit inner reaches of the Mid-City Arcade there is a small sushi restaurant that boasts a beautiful tsunami wave hand-painted across one entire wall; and a steady stream of satisfied customers. People come for the sensitive food, efficient service and the warmly intimate, but casual, atmosphere. From the tiny kitchen come all the traditional working class dishes; gyoza and donburi bowls of rice, tempura, miso shiru; but the emphasis is on seafood and sushi, with some unusual regional dishes such as the deep-fried oysters; and an original, (and totally delicious,) version of California rolls - where the nori is on the inside, the whole roll encrusted with golden salmon caviar. 'Deluxe' bento boxes are attractive and nourishing, with a choice of Teriyaki or Tonkatsu (deep-fried pork cutlet), although the chef is happy to substitute deep-fried tofu for vegetarians. They also serve several traditional desserts, (not only green-tea ice cream), and canned Japanese drinks such as Calpis, or UCC Coffee. A fine collection of wooden and ceramic dishes that offsets the food beautifully, softly muted Japanese pop music, and very reasonable prices make this hidden-away restaurant a good place to forget about those city blues.
