Mietta's Review
The Hairy Canary has flown up Littlle Collins St and perched on the shoulder of the Kelvin Club where it's open a Club of its own for birds of similar feathers and the rest of us. The two storied building is divided into a soft furnished lounge upstairs, below all is dark wood and white walls, while outside delightful Moorish inspired tiling invites you in. Food tends towards tapas but there are more substantial dishes too. There's a great selection of beers, sherries and all the other necessities of a bibulous existance.

Other published opinions

The Age Larissa Dubecki, 27-4-2007 "The younger sibling to the nearby Hairy Canary, its obscure back-lane location will have Melbourne trendoids salivating, while the bar area with its chintzy curtains, Gaudi-esque mosaics and Spanish beers and sangria will leave travellers dreaming about Barcelona's bars."

The Age Cheap Eats Bars 2007 "A manifestation of Melbourne's Iberian craze, the Canary Club recreates Barcelona complete with cocktails called Jose's lemon garden, a Gaudi-esque interior, terrific tapas and jugs of sangria."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 The seductive little sister of Hairy Canary does the Spanish thing to perfection ... The crowd is unpretentious and Boag's Premium Lager flies the Aussie flag.

The Age (Melbourne) Magazine 04/05 Bars Melinda Houston "step right and into Canary Club, the seductive little sister of the iconic Hairy Canary. Its fitout is handsomely spare: dark wood, white walls, very cool light fittings. Canary two has positioned itself as a genuine tapas bar, so drinks include sherries, a terrific range of beers, including several from Spain, and wine."
