Mietta's Review
Sufferers from fear of heights will be relieved to know that perched 253 metres above the Melbourne skyline is our tallest cafe, nestled right there on the panoramic Rialto observation deck. And better still, it's licensed offering a steadying glass of wine to those not quite sure if they should have made the trip in the first place. But if heights are your thing, then the lift up to the summit of the Rialto literally cannot be beaten. The view in all directions is stunning, weather permitting, (and hey, this is Melbourne so that's never a problem!) and once you've spotted your house on one of the many coin-operated telescopes, you can sit and enjoy a glass, cuppa or light meal with the fair city at your feet. The decor is simple but the setting is well, breathtaking. The food is simple and fresh but it's really more a cafe than a restaurant so don't plan on a three-course meal. Even so, the endless stream of tourists from all over the world gasping in admiration at our city's abundance of flatness seem to think that sampling one of the pies or a piece of cheesecake is all part of the ritual.
