Mietta's Review
Over Elizabeth Street, and up from the cool strip of Flinders Lane, bluestone stands alone, a beacon for fine food. A favoured meeting spot for local suits, down stairs an informal bar for snacks, and great drinks, upstairs it's more refined. Dimly lit, leather upholstered, and cloth draped tables, the food is now called modern European, and the cooking is well regarded.

Age Good Food Guide 2010 Score: 14/20 "Now well settled into the corporate dining landscape after nearly a decade. Bluestone's heritage-listed quarters define its style: gilt frames, rich wood, white linen, pin-striped clientele"
Age Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 14/20 "Bluestone is not a fashionable place. The old bluestone walls that inspire the name, adorned with gilded mirrors, express a quiet confidence that suits the mostly conservative clientele"
Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14/20 "Entering Bluestone is a little like entering chambers, such is the number of legal types around the room. On weeknights, long, wellspaced tables of business-suited men play jury, and staff stroll like clerks of court among the high-backed chairs"
The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 12/20 "Decisions begin at the door: downstairs, to the clubby cellar bar for wood fired pizza and steak sandwiches? Or upstairs to the restaurant, where the former wool store's original bluestone walls are now partly hidden by gilt-framed mirrors? Clearly it isn't a hard choice for the businessfolk seated at baronial chairs around the dining room's well-spaced tables."
