Mietta's Review
It's a simple little room but quite smartly decorated with decor changes seasonally - blue tints predominate in the summer months and warmer hues in winter. Oanh's food is Vietnamese that has been purified for fussy Australian eaters as evidenced by it being awarding Best Vietnamese by the AGFG in 2004. Under pressure things can slow down. Reasonable value for money.

Other published opinions

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 12.5/20 "It's not what you'd call a 'dining precinct' - the pocket of Kew where Glenferrie meets Cotham but Oanh Pham and her eponymous kitchen do their best"

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20 "Chef owner Oanh Pham may be hidden away, working hard in her namesake kitchen, but she maintains close dialogue with regular visitors to this simple slimline space. This is how decisions are made on what stays and what strays from the seasonal menu, a time-honed blend of traditional South Vietnamese cuisine and modern trends."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "RISING prices and shrinking portions mean Oanh's Kitchen does not offer quite the same bangfor-buck quotient as when it was named Best Vietnamese in last year's Guide."

2004 AGFG, score 14/20, best vietnamese, two courses for $25 or less

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, Good vegetarian options,'it's mix of traditional Japanese dishes and more innovative offerings keeps the diners coming. There is a regular menu of wonderful sushi and sashimi, terrific gyoza and standard dishes, but the blackboard specials are the way to go...small, appropriate wine list'
