Mietta's Review
Good food, friendly service and fair prices make The Bombay Beat music to its patrons ears. The decor is not too flash, but the pizzazz is where it counts in the food, some of Melbourne's best Indian dishes, and in the service. Locals and travelling foodies love it.

Take 5 John Lethlean 1/8/04 "The Beat is run by a big man by the name of Oberoi, which might explain the big flavours his kitchen coaxes from his trans-Indian curries"

The Foodies' Guide 2004, Allan Campion & Michele,'We've gotten into a great habit of visiting friends in Hawthorn around dinnertime and suggesting that we share takeaway for dinner. Guess what our first choice is? We hope our friends never move, or we'll miss out on our favourite onion bhajis, classic curries, flaky breads and magnificent kulfi.'

2004 AGFG, score 13/20, excellenct selction vegetarian dishes, two courses for $25 or less

The Age Good Food Guide 2003. Score 12/20.

The Age, Sunday Life, Eat Streets, "Marital bliss", 25/8/02. "Bombay Beat prospers b/c its grab bag of classics is definitely at the higher end if Indian cooking."

Herald Sun (Food and Drink), 15.05.01, Stephen Downes review "Luck plays a part in finding the best Indian restaurants. Some people have favourites and play favourites with places that sometimes don't deserve their custom. Don't hesitate about The Bombay Beat, though. It's modest, excellent and cheap. And the wine list is a model for other restauranteurs who seek to provide a service and not abuse their patrons' pockets. Score: 17 out of 20."
