Mietta's Review
After running Thai Village successfully at the Pinewood shopping centre complex in Mt Waverley for six years, John and Sa Renwick moved the restaurant to its current premises in April 2000 because of re-development at Pinewood. Formerly an Italian restaurant, Thai Village mark two has a regular clientele who loves Sa's culinary creativity. Soothing shades of deep green and aqua, starched napery and Thai artefacts provide a friendly ambience and the gentle waitresses flitting about in Thai national dress offer excellent service. All the classic Thai favourites are there, from fish cakes to curries to stir fries, plus some of Sa's creations, such as the goong kea mau prawns in hot red wine sauce on a sizzling platter. More seafood flavors can be found in the po tak seafood soup, liberally spiked with herbs and chillies. Curry dishes can be vegetarian or cooked with your choice of beef, chicken, lamb or prawns and the red duck curry with pineapple and tomato is especially delicious and rich, while another favorite is the crisp fried fish with sweet chilli sauce. For dessert don't go past the creamy-smooth gluay bad chee banana in a warm coconut syrup.
