Mietta's Review
After cooking at the famous King's and Plaza Hotels in Singapore, where he created enormous Nonya (Straits Chinese) buffets every day, Beng Lai Lim went on to set up the Bugis St restaurant in London. He and his family now live in Melbourne and Bee Lee, his wife, runs front of house in this compact, unpretentious restaurant, which is fast becoming known for its hawker fare and home-cooked style of Nonya and Malaysian favourites.

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Dodgy decor goes hand in hand with good grub at this traditional hawker joint, where twintoned lilac and white walls have taken a beating. Speedy service, however, will soon have you tucking into starter staples like tangy curry puffs or a zesty tom yum soup."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 The decor at Lim's might be simple - apart from the rapturous reviews on the walls - but the drawcard here is Lim's Nonya cuisine (a fusion of Chinese, Malay and Indian) ... Smiles from the staff are sweet, too

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'At lunchtime you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal than this:beef rendang or curry chicken with rice and roti for $6!But the real deal strength at Lim's lies in their full menu, from which you can choose the excellent special baked fish or hawker dishes such as char koay teow, hokkien mee, nasi lemak or one of the laksas:curry,Assam or Siam.' Age Good Food Guide 2004 14/20 The Age, Agenda, 29/2/04, John Lethlean,'Renowned for its authenticity, the cognoscenti rekon this is pretty close to the real Penang deal.Excellent laksa, rendang and the rarely found otak-otak keep the place humming' Sunday Herald Sun, sunday magazine, eating out, 2003, Sally Fisher. An extensive menu, with the laksa being a must.
