Mietta's Review
A very popular and successful cafe in what was the Bi-Lo Centre. The owners say they cook traditional Vietnamese food for poor people. The staff are friendly and helpful, it seems to be a real family business. Has excellent bain marie selections as well as an a la carte menu. Also sells a range of good Vietnamese cakes and sweets.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Mai Thi is one of Footscray's myriad Vietnamese restaurants. Opening onto the throng of the Little Saigon market, its bain-marie hides what feels like a family dining room."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 It's the bain-marie that first catches your eye: displaying whole fried fish, beef in bright green betel leaves, stuffed pigs' intestines, sugary pastries and long ropes of rice noodle.

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "IF you're in the mood for adventure, squeeze your way into a frenzied mall and take a seat at Mai Thi. Among the egg noodles, combination soups and stir-fries, you'll find a few postcardworthy items such as pig's blood congee, preserved fish, and custard apple cocktails."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "ZIP in for takeaway or grab a seat at one of Footscray's hidden delights. Spartan and slightly off the beaten track, Mai Thi sates appetites"
