The high walls are painted terracotta red or left rough raw brick. Amazingly, on them there's a rustic ladder, an antique Chinese chair painted red and gold and a huge framed Chinese opera costume in claret and sky blue laid against a backing of nicotine-yellow lacquered old newspapers."
