Mietta's Review Popular with a mixed worker, grunge, student and artist crowd, Le Gourmet has just six tables inside the small shopfront, with some window barstools and a few tables outside. Breakfasts, based around the humble egg, cater for vegetarians and the last renegade carnivores. Also on offer are crepes, croissants and muesli. Lunch is harder with a vast range of filled 20cm French sticks, pies range in flavours (steak, goulash, lentil and leek, pumpkin and ricotta to eggplant, spicy mushroom, chicken and sweetcorn) and price . Coffee is a very standard Brunswick Street. But the real reason for going to Le Gourmet is for the baked-on-the-premises sachertorte, mousse cakes, pastries (apricot, apple, sour cherry and cheese Danish) and proper baked cheesecakes, along with the less expensive lemon tarts, fresh fruit flans and pecan pies.
