Mietta's Review
Bhoj is carving out a big reputation for itself in its Docklands location. One doesn't expect to find an Indian restaurant in such swish modern surroundings. First class Indian dishes are served by a professional staff. Good wine list and, of course, water views. Also at rear 114-116 James Street, Templestowe 9846 7799.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "The sibling to Bhoj Templestowe is dead sexy, with its postmodern angles, chic, ambient lighting, coiffed staff and dockside locale"

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13.5/20 "By anybody's reckoning, $7.70 is steep for a single samosa, even if it is accompanied by a small splodge of 'pakodi chat' potato curry. Most Indian restaurants would serve two of the critters for that price (if not an entire meal)"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Cutlery that would make Mr Curly smile adorns linen-cloaked tables at this ritzy waterfront restaurant. But while Bhoj Docklands exudes glamour it can be excellent value if you're careful."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 Bhoj's dynamic take on richly spiced Indian cuisine makes a trip to Docklands worthwhile. The chic interior attracts diners looking for style with their samosa.

The Age Good Food Guide 2006 score 14/20 "Bhoj has to be one of the best reasons to brave the grim wind tunnels of Docklands. Maintaining a vibrant masala of exciting food and sleek setting, Bhoj is as close as you'll get to the colour, texture and flavour of Indian food without a vaccination. The dining room is bright and airy, with warm pink hues, comfortable banquettes and crisp linen tablecloths, but can become uncomfortably loud. Service ranges from suave to untutored."

The Age Good Food Guide 2005 "BHOJ is leading the charge for quality Indian food in Melbourne, with a menu and restaurant design that rejects the cliches."

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "FROM the outside it looks like any other Docklands spot, but Bhoj distinguishes itself with cosy banquettes, warm tones and Bombay beats."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "OWNER-CHEF Rajesh Mehta has a formidable reputation as an expert translator of Indian flavours, and this colourful waterfront flagship provides the perfect setting."

The Foodies' Guide 2004,Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'Bhoj's reputation as not only one of the best Indian restaurants, but also one of the best takeaways,is well deserved. Here you'll find all the classic Indian dishes prepared with just a bit more loving care to make them quite spectacular.'

Age Good Food Guide 2004 14/20, Best Indian

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, Good vegetarian options,'huge and varied menu...features rarely seen dishes...A neat drinks list helps with tricky beer and wine matches for the spicy food.Unfortunately, amateurish service can let the food down.'

Herald Sun, Citystyle, 17/2/04, Stephen Downes, Score 15/20,'Service might be slow because of the crowds, and the interval between cooking and serving here is obviously longer than at its Templestowe sister.Bhoj at Docklands has an excellent, limited but well-priced wine list, eight table whites and six reds are availble by glass.'

The Age, Sunday Life, 11/1/04, John Lethlean,'The interior design of Bhoj is certainly alluring but the terrace with its crafted timber furniture, shouldn't be overlooked as a great place to eat some of Melbourne's best Indian food.'
