The Age Dani Valent, 17-6-2008 "Payal's owner, Prakash Parmar, is from Gujarat in India's north-west. He moved to Australia seven years ago and worked as a cook in an aged-care facility in the leafy east before taking over Payal in 2005 and, no doubt, spicing up his repertoire. The shop-front restaurant is slightly shabby and food-splattered, with basic furniture and decorations. You wouldn't come for the atmosphere. Service can be a bit hard to come by, but our waiter was friendly and informative once nabbed. The menu is dominated by northern Indian curries and the food is tasty, cheap and generously doled out."
