Other published opinions

Herald Sun Stephen Downes, 15-07-08 Score: ** "Kin looks the part with its super modern decor and, for the most part, its menu hits the mark"

Herald Sun Dining Out, Stephen Downes, 9-10-07 Score: 12/20 "Sleek and new, Kin has promise, but ought to look around town at, what other Italian tables are doing. Its bread policy and poor value for money could be easily fixed. Our meal zipped out at a nice fast cadence. The wine list is limited, but has a comprehensive spread of grape varieties. Prices vary nicely, too, and 10 table whites and a dozen reds are sold by the glass."

Age Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 12.5/20 "The smooth, dark good looks at Kin may have you expecting food that pays more attention to form than flavour. But while the dining room's slate floor, weimaraner-coloured walls, table sculptures and black leather chairs talk affluent style, the food speaks a more rustic language"

The Age Michael Harden, 16-7-2007 Score: 13.5/20 "If you were looking for a culinary example of not judging a book by its cover, Carlton North's Kin is a textbook case. Sitting in a renovated double shopfront opposite Enoteca Vino Bar in Lygon Street, Kin has the sort of glossy, expensive veneer that might have you expecting a menu full of sculpturally arranged "Mod Oz"food more concerned about chef-driven delusions of grandeur than treating its customers to a good feed."

Herald Sun Eat, Bob Hart, 19-05-07 "Kin will not be what you are expecting, in appearance or taste. This is because it is the realised dream of two passionate foodists - designer Joseph and his gifted wife Rosa, who masterminds the tucker. They are a formidable team - delivering highly innovative, mainly Italian food in modern yet warm and welcoming surrounds."
