Mietta's Review
The big room could have been a cinema with the screen replaced by the kitchen, service station and fish tanks. Enter into the back stalls and wait to be noticed. The greeting when it comes is good from waiters with excellent English - a plus for such a Chinese restaurant the bulk of whose clientele is Asian. This is clearly a very professional establishment where everyone knows what to do and does it. It is not new but the passage of time has made this a very comfortable dining experience. Fu Long is clearly Box Hill's special occasion place. As expected, food is to a good standard and the prices are a couple of dollars more than other restaurants nearby.

Other published opinions

The Age Cheap Eats 2008 "Spin that wheel! The lazy Susan wheel, that is. Join the chattering, dim sum-obsessed families for a weekend yum cha hit at this Chinese institution"

The Age Cheap Eats 2007 "Fu Long is Hong Kong writ small. You'll see lobsters in tanks, pink walls hung with Oriental paintings and tables packed with extended Chinese families creating a busy hubbub."

The Age Cheap Eats 2006 So what's it going to be, chicken buns or crocodile meat? One direction takes you into the frantic arms of Fu Long by day - an inexpensive yum cha house ... The other introduces you to Fu Long by night - where food gets fancier, and prices creep upwards

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide Best Chinese "for the traditional suburban family yum cha, bustling bonhomie combined with terrific food, there's little to touch Box Hill's friendly Fu Long"

The Age Cheap Eats 2005 "ALMOST two restaurants in one, by day Fu Long is a crowded, noisy yum cha house that you have to elbow your way into. At night, however, things calm down and prices edge up for aa la carte dining."

The Age Cheap Eats 2004 "FROM the swagged white voile curtains to the red-cheeked babies in grow-suits munching prawn crackers, Fu Long feels like a friendly eating barn somewhere in downtown Kowloon."

The Age Take 5 John Lethlean 12/9/04 "Something has happened at Fu Long. It's gone off. One minute it was a relaxed suburban Chinese with a steady but unspectacular yum cha. Next, people who haven't booked jostling at the door for a table ... The food has ramped up substantially."

The Foodies' Guide 2004, Allan Campion & Michele Curtis,'We always find there's something reassuring and comforting about Chinese restaurants.Check out dumplings in particular here.'
