Mietta's Review
Food, flavours and combinations that excite, amuse, challenge and delight, as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate, food that stretches the boundaries and redefines many culinary preconceptions. There's seemingly no limit to chef Mejitte Boughenout's creativity. Dining here is an adventure, a fabulous culinary exploration, a unique and superbly exciting experience. And there's a wine list and walk-in cellar selection to drool over plus superb accommodation and service.

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Restaurant Guide "Franklin Manor is a boutique hotel and restaurant in Strahan's old harbour-master's residence. To stay here is to return to the comfort of a bygone era; to dine, an adventure. With his gilded foams, savoury ice-creams and sweet/savoury combos, chef Meyjitte Boughenout strides the high-wire of modern dining with confidence."

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2005 two stars "Set in Strahan's restored 19th-century harbour-master's residence, Franklin Manor is now an elegant boutique hotel and restaurant, which chef and part-owner Meyjitte Boughenout has firmly established as one of the state's key food destinations. There's creative Gallic talent and passion in the kitchen and the seasonal degustation menus are meldings of tweaked classics and ultra-contemporary flavours and combinations."

AGFG & SMH GFG 2004,'the dining at Franklin Manor is worthy of nobility. From the serious to the frivolous,it's all crafted by esteemed chef Meyjitte Boughenout.Come in winter to indulge in Tassie's best wine list.'

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 1 Red Star, Good vegetarian options, Excellent wine list,'no matter the season, you'll be presented with food that is sublime and texturally complex...This is a lovely venue where you can truly relax and enjoy one of Tasmania's best dining experiences.'

Sydney Morning Herald - Travel SectionTo the Manor Born Amelia Radford. French-born Meyjitte is a celebrated chef who has cooked at the three-Michelin-star restaurants L'Auberge du Pere Bise, Restaurant George Blanc, Restaurant Pic Valence and Restaurant Pierre Gagnaire in Paris, among many others. His dream is to turn Franklin Manor into an internationally recognised dining and holiday destination.

The Sunday Examiner, December 15 2002 JOHN CAPLES. The West Coast of Tasmania seems an unlikely place to find one of Australia's top chefs. Mr Boughenout has built a reputation in Europe and in some of Sydney's top hotels and restaurants for his light, modern style. His skill caught the eye and tastebuds of the late Mietta O'Donnell who had no hesitation in featuring the young Frenchman in her Fifty Great Australian Chefs book.

The Sunday Tasmanian, December 29 2002, Graeme Phillips. Meyjitte Boughenout, chef and part-owner at Franklin Manor, is doing things to food the likes of which Tasmania has never seen before. He is presenting a true symphony of flavours, a crescendo of tastes where the occasional lows are only relative to the exhilarating highs. There's novelty and originality galore, fabulous purity of flavours and exciting combinations backed by the maturity and competency of technique gained from his years working with such French luminaries as George Le Blanc, Jacques Pic, and Pierre Gagnaire, in Sydney at the Ritz Carlton and Claudines and, most recently, Singapore's Salut. But it has a new sophistication and warmth in Debbie Boughenout's welcome and front-of-house service and a level of dedicated excellence that I have no doubt will put the Boughenouts, Franklin Manor, Strahan and Tasmania high on the national culinary map.
