Mietta's Review
Stillwater morphs from excellent breakfasts to good casual lunches to Tasmania's most exciting and beautifully crafted fusion food experience at night. The dinner menu sparkles with Asianaccented flavours and mouth-watering combinations - lighter and brighter in summer, deeper, darker and more warming in winter. The contemporary timber decor, casual but very professional service, a great Tasmanian wine selection and lovely waterfront setting makes a dinner here a memorable experience.

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "Stillwater is in a comfortable groove with a menu of old favourites and a few new dishes to tempt jaded palates"

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Restaurant Guide ** "Chef Don Cameron has mastered the art of combining the sweet, sour and salty flavours ofthe East to produce complex and harmonious dishes ... .this lovely restaurant not only delivers on the food front, but has excellent waiting staff who are very familiar with the cuisine and can assist your dining choices with intelligence."

Gourmet Restaurant Guide 2005 two stars, "It's Launceston's best breakfast spot and a casual all-day cafe ... At night, Don Cameron's menu transforms Stillwater into a venue of serious dining, with a wine list to do it justice and a team of keen, professional staff."

AGFG & SMH GFG 2005 "Gourmands across the land are talking about this former mill near Cataract Gorge. Is it the passionate service, brilliant local wine list or the food (a creative blend of old and new) that's set tongues wagging?"

Courier Mail Goodlife 14/12/04 "Stillwater's menu by day is cafe-influenced but by night the linen comes out and the restaurant really shines."

AGFG & SMH GFG 2004,'While the best river views from this former mill are to be enjoyed in daylight, the time to visit is at night, when talented Don Cameron rattles the pans. His brave combinations are always well constructed and invariably delicious.'

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 2 Black Stars, Excellent wine list,'dining here is a food adventure...tiny,unexpected explosions occur...Flooded with light and sited in the base of an historic flour mill that's right beside the Tamar River, Stillwater is especially pleasant during the day.Lunch is a simpler cafe-style menu although always with interesting specials.'
