Mietta's Review
A beautifully restored old hotel with original wooden bar and fittings and the front and middle bars still operating with their handful of regulars rattling on. Eat inside by the raging open fire or outside where the vines have seen decades of uni students cook their own massive steaks on the barbecue. These days the area is warmed with braziers and there's a full a la carte menu - duck ravioli, as well as some rather tasty cuts of meat to barbecue yourself. The wine list offers very good value.

Other published opinions

Adelaide Advertiser Tony Baker 26/10/05 "The special way with the better cuts of beef here is DIY. The kitchen brigade is able but most customers select something red and juicy, and do it themselves."

The Advertiser, 26/11/03, food & wine,'The British has earned a top reputation for its great pub food and wonderful beer garden'

TThe Advertiser, 2/7/03, Food & Wine,'The British is the kind of pub you wish you had around the corner-open fires, heated courtyard in winter, no pokies and a top-shelf restaurant, food and great wine list.'
