Long established heritage listed hotel serving standard pub food. The star here is the bottle shop, which has a fabulous selelction of wine, and the prices can often be very special indeed. The menu features a section to help you match your meal to a wine.

Lots of options to suit occasion and weather - and what regularly draws us there, a menu which is eclectic, of quality and keenly priced. Pies, steaks and schnitzels to be sure together with enough alternatives to ring the changes whatever your mood and appetite. We were there for a Monday lunch, an acid test of popularity, and the place was doing healthy business. The food and an excellent wine list are not the only drawcard - the floor staff were agreeable and efficient."
