Mietta's Review
The Dhaba has moved from the space it shared with with The Spice Kitchen, a more casual cafe, to what was a primary school close by. Not only is the new situation good but it has encouraged the Dhaba to lift its game. The restaurant side serves authentic Indian food from a very well explained and diverse menu. The food is a great hit. Friendly and efficient service in a very pleasant environment.

Other published opinions

Adelaide Advertiser 2006 "The first thing to hit you as you stroll into The Spice Kitchen is the aroma. Ragini Dey opened this restaurant some 17 years ago, giving diners a potent taste of India with homemade spice blends and chutneys, plus a take-away section."

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "Ragini Dey never fails to amaze with the scope of the Indian dishes she puts on her menu, constantly shedding new culinary light on the subcontinent. She teaches, takes tours to India and writes cookbooks, so her inspiration is well-founded."

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide "The Spice Kitchen has been transformed, moving into a former primary school near the former site. There are nice touches, like the lounge area around the fire in winter, while the Indian decorative touches are restrained."

Sunday Mail 15/5/05 "The first thing that hits you as you stroll into The Spice Kitchen is the aroma. ... She has retained the cafe name but the new Dhaba at The Spice Kitchen has headed upmarket."

The Advertiser, 17/12/03, Tony Baker,'has style and space...a menu which showcases most of the diverse cooking styles of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka...Dhaba is exceptional.'

The Advertiser, 2/7/03, Food & Wine,'best of regional indian cooking at this ever-popular eastern-suburbs venue'
