With its old surf lifesaving boat, plain wooden floors and paper-topped tables this is an unpretentious place and great film location (it was used in Shine). A place to dine simply, bocadillo (a bread roll filled with calamari) is famous. The short menu is supplemented with daily specials. A reasonable choice of local wines of which about half are available by the glass.

Cafe Salsa 8235 1991, 5 West Beach Rd, West Beach - The street approach is a time warp. Crazy paving and palms beside the curved roof are whimsical. Homely Italian dishes.
