Mietta's Review
Consistently good food, seasonally inspired, can be found in this pleasant, small restaurant on a lively suburban strip. The chef, Ben Sachse, and Andrew Bruce, who have both worked at The Sauce for four years, have recently purchased the place and tell us they are keeping most things the same. They now have enclosed and heated outdoor seating areas.

Other published opinions

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "This friendly little inner-suburban eatery seems almost too demure for what goes on inside, which is arguably a definition of Mod Oz cooking. Euro-styled dishes sit beside Asian interpretations by Peter Harris, while owner and frontman Andrew Bruce organises a sensitive list of domestic and international drops with good wine service at a mix of linenclad and hand-painted tables."

Adelaide Advertiser 2006 "Andrew Bruce and his team at The Sauce at Dulwich know instinctively, from the food presentation to the internal fittings, what goes together in this chic suburban gem. Some tables are hand-painted works of art reflecting wildly colourful fruit and vegetables, you could easily end up on the beetroot table."

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "The Sauce is a neighbourhood restaurant set amid a small strip of shops in the village-like suburb of Dulwich. Casually hip, it's the kind of place you can go for a relaxed midweek meal or a more indulgent big night."

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide * "Every suburb needs a restaurant like this local favourite, tucked away in a shopping centre in leafy Dulwich. The Sauce is owned by Andrew Bruce who worked under previous owner, Peter Krog. Bruce stuck with the formula but added many other influences along the way."

Adelaide Adveriser Tony Love 15/2/06 score 16.5/20 "Small, friendly, suburban gem with a very enjoyable menu, refined cooking and casual, but highly knowledgeable service."

Sunday Mail 30/1/05 "The restaurant is smart-casual cool, located in the genteel row of veranda-clad shops ... framed by grapevines. The dining area is divided into three rooms as well as an undercover courtyard area, with floorboards, soft music and large windows topped by stained glass designs allowing views of walkers, joggers ... The restaurant's focus on modern Australian cuisine has won it a grab-bag of awards"

The Advertiser, food & wine, 11/2/04, Tony Baker,'The Sauce is good looking, it is as comfortable as a favourite shoe and that the food is agreeably eclectic...wine list admirable'
