Mietta's Review
The Aldgate Pump Hotel has undergone a recent renovation and expansion of the restaurant and kitchen areas, but hasn't lost its warm, country pub feel. Still serving good food from an unconventional menu (for a pub) with dishes that include Persian Duck and Beef Bourguignon. Nice courtyard for outdoor eating on a fine day.

Other published opinions

Adelaide Advertiser 15/6/05 "the Aldgate Pump Hotel in the Hills, a pub of long lineage now run by Robert Stone. Run very well, too. The menu, listed and specials board, is sound and includes keenly priced steaks, a pie of two, Moroccan-style spiced lamb with couscous, seafood and the likes of brains and bacon and liver. Lili had an enjoyable pumpkin soup and roasted scotch fillet with gravy chips and watched me first deal with a plate of pate and crisp bread then a bowl of two shanks, on mash with a beetroot and chilli glaze. At least they called it a glaze: it seemed more like a gravy to me and all the better for it. The meat was tender and tasty."
