Mietta's Review
This restaurant is in the original kiosk and tea rooms in the centre of the stunning Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Worth the trip for the surroundings alone, although the food really consolidates the experience. Dishes are offered as part of a set menu, either two or three course. Wine and beer are available, and it is best to buy at the restaurant as corkage for BYO is a rather steep $15 per bottle.

Other published opinions

Adelaide Advertiser 2006 "Smack in the middle of the Botanic Garden is one of those Adelaide institutions we tend to forget is there. The Botanic Garden Restaurant has been serving lunch and catering for functions for decades with chef John Woods turning over seasonal menus with influences from Asia and the Mediterranean."

Gourmet Traveller 2005 Australian Restaurant Guide "There's something magical about stepping into the Adelaide Botanic Gardens: so close to the city yet like entering a forest. The sense of unreality is heightened by the restaurant at its centre, which looks like a 19th-century conservatory."

The Advertiser 25/5/05 Tony Baker "The restaurant and kiosk are a special children's case, being traffic-free in the heart of the garden and with the opportunity to feed the fauna on the pond."

Adelaide Advertiser Tony Love 12/10/04 score 15/20. "Beautiful and peaceful setting best enjoyed on warm days outdoors by the lake. The kitchen is lifting its spirits with a seasonal menu and comfortingly good food. Two courses: $35 Three courses: $45 Side dishes $5-$7 Vegetarian options: Reasonable Wheelchair access: Yes Wine list: Pretty good Corkage: $15/bottle"

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004,'It's hard to imagine a more idyllic setting for a restaurant:if the pond filled with water birds doesn't do it for you, perhaps the avenue of giant moreton bay figs, the spreading lawns or the formal gardens will...Excellent dishes'

The Advertiser, 16/7/03, Food & Wine, Tony Baker,'The tables are set prettily and the food is perhaps best described as French-style Australian'

The Advertiser, 2/7/03, Food & Wine,'You won't find a more relaxed venue so close to the centre of any capital city. The smart food suits the surroundings'

The Advertiser 12/7/2000 Tony Baker - the restaurant is in the original kiosk and tea rooms in the heart of the gardens, the food as good as the view, oyster and leek tart, spiced vegetable soup, osso buco, lime pudding. Based on French technique
