Mietta's Review
The new James St Markets are a joy to behold and to enter not least because there you'll find Spoon. Smart modern and offering a good range of deli dishes and bread based offerings. Order at the counter, perch on the window ledge and enjoy! Other Spoons are at - 107 Latrobe Tce Paddington, 3367 0722; Garden City Shopping Centre Mt Gravatt, 3420 3092.

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "The first Spoon cafe-deli to pop up was at James St, Fortitude Valley, and has been popular since day one. Since then, new cafes have arrived at venues including Paddington and West End. Our favourites are at Paddington and James St simply because there is always something happening at each venue."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "The first Spoon cafe-deli around Brisbane, it's been popular since day one. In the large, high-ceilinged square space is an open kitchen surrounded by counters (at which you order) and chilled cabinets filled with salads, wraps, sweets and deli items."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "the appeal lies in the familiarity and the laid-back, unfussy approach. You know exactly what you're going to get food-wise, and while in busy times service may feel the strain, it's usually friendly and courteous."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "One of the trendy cafes around town, Spoon dishes up solid cafe fare, excellent coffee and a reasonable wine list."

Brisbane News, 25/2-2/3/2004, Ben Groundwater, score 6/10, 'food-trendy, service slow and impersonal, ambience inner-city cool, In contrast to the service, the food was fantastic.'

The Courier Mail, 2/12/03, Alison Cotes, Score 15/20
