Mietta's Review
Eat outside, raised up from the valley multitudes under Chinatown's elaborately decorated pagoda or inside on carved Chinese chairs at tables carefully covered with (worn) white plastic tablecloths. The food is cheap but good and a welcome change from the standard Cantonese offerings of the restaurant's neighbours. One of the better places to eat in the Valley.

Other published opinions

Brisbane Times Score: 11/20 "At first glance, you'd struggle to distinguish Hunan from its many Chinatown neighbours. Plastic, floral tablecloths? Check"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "This restaurant has moved from its old haunt at the Chinatown Mall entrance of the T C Beirne building to a new location beneath the Golden Palace near the Ann Street end of the mall"

Brisbane News Tony Harper, 20-1-07 Food 8 Wine 4 Service 6.5 Ambience 5.5 "So, if you like mainstream Chinese, the Hunan is probably not for you, but if you like a little adventure you'll probably find it a blast. Don't expect a restaurant with all of the luxurious trappings: this is basic Chinatown, but with a wealth of exotic flavours and fiery delights."
