Mietta's Review
Up on the first floor of the Conservatory Arcade development with its quite pleasant colonial verandah look sits the Kamone Japanese Restaurant. With soft olive green carpet it should be a relaxing setting. Sadly the music is unbelievably loud and obtrusive but this doesn't seem to disturb the Japanese clientele. Nor the chefs who greet you effusively on arrival or the young Asian girls waiting on tables. The menu has some 100 items to select from and is good value. Hiirekatsue consists of six large pieces of pork medallions crumbed and fried. Served with an eggy sauce in the Gribiche style with English mustard. Also accompanied by ponzu and shredded cabbage with vinegar sauce and a cuumber garnish and tomato. It was a huge plate, all very fresh and good. Habeyaki udon. Very good noodles, a little over cooked. Fresh and well prepared vegetables, quality chicken, a whole egg, seaweed. All the right accompaniments. Popular dishes here include nikatsu with rice & miso soup, nasu dengaku and shiyabu shiyabu for two.
