C'est Bon

Mietta's Review
You come here for the food not the room. And, the food is something completely different for Cairns - classic French bistro dishes. A well-regarded and interesting restaurant. Prices are as expected - in 08 mains were around $35.

Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2009 Queensland Score: 13/20 "Classic, classy and clever. C'est Bon never fails to please with a canny knack for being so traditional and yet able to tick so many boxes"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 13/20 "Good range of Australian and international wines and Champagnes; limited choice by the glass; BYO (corkage $10 per bottle); separate bar "

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "C'est Bon looks, feels and tastes so much like a true bistro, you could almost kid yourself you were far away from downtown Cairns. Bare floorboards, bentwood chairs, crisp napery and sparkling stemware are all neatly packaged"

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 "Veteran chef and restaurateur, French-born Michel Bonnet has been trying to retire for a few years now but daughter Amelie pressed him back into service in Cairns where the pair established C'est Bon, a rustic French bistro, complete with specials written on mirrors, kirs royals and escargots."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 * "Amelie, a well-travelled hospitality graduate experienced at front-of-house. She needed her Papa to run the kitchen in her new venue in central Calms so persuaded him to return with a full complement of recipes."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "Living in Queensland through a time of great culinary change, Bonnet has gently resisted the pressure to "fuse" his food, modernise or trick it up so it no longer resembles traditional French cuisine."

Courier Mail Good Life 14/9/04 Lizzie Loel "As a chef, Michel is a classicist with an innate understanding of French cuisine and a gift for sauces. Cairns has never previously been graced with a proper French restaurant and sceptics said it would never work. But they underestimated the convivial pair, who complement each other in business. Amelie adores her father's food and Michel loves the fact that Amelie takes care of the customers with enthusiasm."
