Mietta's Review
A major facelift for this suburban pub has resulted in a cool bar and cafe separated by distance but still part of each other - it works surprisingly well. Enter through the big columns rising from the footpath and join the rest of Bulimba. Reasonably priced. In 06 mains averaged $24.

Other published opinions

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 "Gone are the wharfies holding up the bar - nowadays, well-dressed drinkers chat with friends in this light and airy suburban pub"

Brisbane News Tony Harper, 5-9-2007 Score: Food 7, Wine 6.5, Service 7, Ambience 7.5 "it remains a cleverly designed, open-plan space with great visual impact. And, most of all it, it's incredibly inviting. The waiters are smartly dressed - this instantly raises the restaurant beyond that of the average pub - and service is sharp and attentive."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "The large, airy dining space takes up about half of this renovated pub"

Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006 "Oxford 152 has a restaurant and adjoining microbrewery all contained within a timberfloored space with wide glass roller doors opening on to Bulimba's busy main drag. There's little resemblence to the old-style pub it used to be, and with the millions spent on the refurbishment"

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "The modern interior and location guarantees this award-winning pub eatery an eclectic crowd. Chef Christian Torrent's menu ensures repeat business, too."

Courier-Mail Nick Bray Bar 17/5/05 "Drink in hand, there's plenty to admire about Oxford 152, a timber-floored space with wide glass roller doors opening on to Bulimba's busy main drag. The people watching is particularly good here, with the suburb's bookshops, cinemas and cafe strip drawing thousands of locals and visitors from outer 'burbs."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 "The restaurant and adjoining bar and microbrewery command a stylish presence through huge folding glass doors that overlook busy Oxford St. There's little resemblance to the Balmoral pub it used to be, but that's not surprising considering the millions spent on the renovations."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "Since a multi-million dollar refit last year the bar and restaurant in this local watering hole have been extremely popular, and for good reason. Chef Christian Torrent's cuisine is original and appealing"

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, Good vegetarian options,'The food moves easily between Asian and Mediterranean flavours...On weekends, the place takes on a laid-back party feel and, most evenings, the bar is packed with after-workers enjoying the very hip atmosphere.'

The Courier-Mail, 16/12/03, Lizzie Loel,'the contemporary design and open plan is the perfect backdrop for an eclectic menu of modern Australian dishes that lean towards Asia for inspiration...this place has a stylish edge and attracts a stylish crowd.'
